ESCWA provides members States with analysis, policy advice, technical assistance, capacity-building and knowledge sharing on a host of governance matters, including political reform and transition, crisis and conflict management, and damage and loss assessment.

The Social Statistics and Indicators team compiles statistics on population, labour force, education, gender, poverty, health and vital statistics. It maintains databases in specialized fields of social statistics gathered from national and international sources, provides advisory services and training to help member countries improve social statistics collection, and strives to enhance regional harmonization in social statistics classifications, definitions and measurement.

This site is on Development Indicators including the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) and the future Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) presents the official data, definitions, methodologies and sources for development indicators to measure progress towards the MDG and SDG. The site will also include projects, events and progress reports and documents presented to the Statistical Committee, expert group meetings and workshops.
