Social Expenditure Monitor for Arab States |
The Social Expenditure Monitor provides a comprehensive monitoring of public social expenditure that could improve the efficiency of allocations and the effectiveness of budgeting. It will enable the rationalization of expenditure components and support the achievement of various objectives, including delivering quality public services, promoting inclusive development and stability, and enhancing economic growth and revenue over time. The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is therefore supporting member States in establishing a social expenditure monitor, viewed as an integrated framework for supporting macro-fiscal policies and the SDGs. |

Cyber Legislation |
During the last years, ESCWA focused on promoting cybersafety and combating cybercrime. In this context the Commission published a report that included a policy framework to enhance cybersecurity and build confidence in cyberspace. ESCWA also organized capacity building workshops and advisory services to its member countries on this topic. |

Arab IGF Process – Phase II: 2017-2020 |
Based on the output of the AIGF2020 initiative, efforts to improve the Arab IGF process would be directed to the formulation of a new Charter (a Technical Cooperation Framework) for the second phase of the Arab IGF that is expected for the period 2017-2020.
