Digital content has come to play a major role given the vital contribution by information and knowledge in meeting economic and social development goals, and the role of information and communication technologies in producing, categorizing, sharing and disseminating such information. This study, which paves the way for drafting an Arab strategy on content building, represents a follow-up to efforts made by ESCWA in the area of digital content.

This document focuses on energy consumption and ways to support sustainability and improve efficiency of energy use in the poultry sector. It gives an overview of the poultry production cycle and outlines the main energy consumption indicators in the poultry sector, mainly specific energy consumption and the ratio of energy cost to the total production cost. The document sheds light on energy audits in the poultry sector as a preliminary step to the implementation of energy efficiency improvement measures in this sector.

Kazakhstan’s aggregate total installed capacity of all power stations for electricity production shows a dominant contribution of coal-fired power stations in the energy mix. However, there is a strong decision at the highest political level to move towards higher contribution of renewable energy sources in the energy mix.
