Beirut, 14 October 2019 (ESCWA)--As part of the support it extends to Arab States in their efforts towards achieving gender equality and full participation of women in the public life, ESCWA hosted a seminar organized by the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Beirut, at the UN House, on “Women in Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030”.
 

Beirut, 31 May 2018 (Communication and Information Unit)--The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) today announced it will hold its 30th Ministerial Session in Beirut, Lebanon on 27 and 28 June with a focus on technology for sustainable development.

“We are proud to welcome the Ministerial Session back to Beirut this year, as the last one organized in Lebanon was in 2012,” said Mohamed Ali Alhakim, the Executive Secretary of ESCWA.

In parallel with the Economic and Social Council meetings taking place in Geneva this week, a ceremony was held to sign a cooperation agreement between the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The agreement was signed by Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy on behalf of UNESCWA, and by Director General Brunson McKinley on behalf of IOM.

The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) signed on 20 June a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC). This MoU represents a statement of intent by the parties to work together and outlines the basis, collaboration and joint activities in fields of mutual interest. In the signing ceremony held in Qatar, ESCWA was represented by its Executive Secretary Bader Omar AlDafa, and GOIC by its Acting Secretary-General Loulwa Bint Abdullah Al Musnad.
