Held under the title “The Implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Arab States,” the ESCWA 29th Session opened today in Doha, Qatar, at the level of senior delegates, and will open at the ministerial level tomorrow 14 December. The ESCWA Session is held at the Sheraton Grand hotel in Doha until 15 December 2016, when participants will issue a declaration focusing on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Arab States. |

Conventional wisdom, based mainly on surveyed household income distribution statistics, suggests that inequality is generally low in Arab countries. At the same time, little attention has been devoted to social inequalities, whether in terms of outcomes or opportunities.
