The acting executive secretary Mr. Atif Kubursi held on Thursday July 19 a meeting with three representatives of Lebanese Chambers of Commerce Industry and Agriculture (LCCIA): Mr. Ghazi Koraytem, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Beirut and Mount Lebanon; Mr. Abdallah Ghandour, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Tripoli and North Lebanon, and Mr. Mohamaad Zaatari, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture in Sidon and South Lebanon to discuss future potential cooperation.

Beirut, 26 Oct 2011 (UN Information Service) — “Under an Olive Tree in Palestine” is the slogan of a poster launched today by ESCWA as part of its efforts to raise awareness about the socio-economic repercussions of Israeli occupation in Palestine, including settlements and the policies of blockades and closures. The poster was distributed to UN headquarters in New York, Geneva, Vienna and to many UN agencies in Lebanon. ESCWA also provided the Palestinian Authority and some non-governmental organizations with copies for use and circulation.

Beirut, 15 April 2020--While it has been agreed worldwide that handwashing with soap and water is the best prevention against COVID-19 contagion, this simple act proves to be difficult in a region where 74 million people lack access to a basic handwashing facility.
