Egyptian Minister of Transport Mohammad Mansour will be inaugurating the Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on International Multimodal Transport in the Western Asia region organized by UN-ESCWA (the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia) on 4-6 September 2007 at the Triumph Hotel, Heliopolis, Cairo.

The three-day meeting, which will open at 9:30 am on Tuesday, is intended to discuss the second draft of a proposed Agreement on International Multimodal Transport of Goods in the Arab Mashreq.

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) will hold a workshop on 'Capacity-Building for Partnership in Democratic governance in Iraq' in partnership with the Iraqi Business Council (IBC) and in cooperation with the League of Arab States (LAS) and the Arab Gulf Fund for Development (AGFUND) from 23 to 25 January 2015, in the Grand Millennium Hotel, Amman. The opening of the workshop will be attended by Ambassador of Iraq to Jordan Jawad Hadi Abbas.

UN Under-Secretary General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf is keen on asserting UN agencies, and particularly ESCWA's, commitment to provide all forms of support to Member Countries' governments in furthering their national efforts towards sustainable development.
