2 March 2017	ESCWA Marks World Day of Social Justice	On 20 February 2017, ESCWA marked World Day of Social Justice with particular emphasis on the role of culture and arts in achieving social justice, and with the participation of a host of officials, diplomats, artists, and media figures. Opening remarks in the ceremony were delivered by Lebanese State Minister for Combating Corruption Nicolas Tueni and by Director of ESCWA Social Development Division Frederico Neto.

10 December 2020	ESCWA: 2 Arab countries among world’s top 10 richest and 2 others among the 5 least expensive	Beirut, 10 December 2020--Qatar and the United Arab Emirates ranked second and eighth respectively among the world’s top 10 richest countries, while Egypt and the Sudan ranked first and third respectively among the 5 least expensive countries, according to a new report released today by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
11 December 2014	Launch of Decade of Action for Road Safety in ESCWA	From the UN headquarters in Beirut, and in cooperation with Lebanese actress Carmen Lebbos, ESCWA launched on 17 May the “Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020.” The event was held the auspices and in the presence of caretaker Lebanese Minister of Interior Ziad Baroud, and a slew of diplomats and government officials from ESCWA’s 14 member countries.
