Every year, the partners of ESCWA from governmental and non-governmental organizations, media, educational and scientific foundations await the launch of the “Survey of Economic and Social Developments in the Arab Region”. It is a report intended to assess the Arab economies in the global context of economic events that took place recently and also to address pressing policy agenda in the region by a theme-based in-depth research.

The Jordanian capital Amman will host four major events for the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) from Sunday 6 October until Sunday 13 October 2013. The ESCWA Communication and Information Unit will issue press releases to shed light on these activities, which are listed in detail below:

- Expert Group Meeting on New Sources of Development Finance in the Arab Region (6-7 October 2013, Kempinski Hotel);

Jordanian Minister of Transport Lina Chbib will inaugurate the 14th Session of ESCWA’s Committee on Transport hosted in Amman on 9 and 10 October 2013, at the Kempinski Hotel.

The project is of great benefit to secondary school and university instructors and students, and promotes joint cooperation between ESCWA, Rotary clubs in Lebanon, the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Social Sciences Institute of the Lebanese University. It is the Arab Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Report 2011, which was launched at the UN House this afternoon in the presence of Arab and foreign diplomatic delegates, educational personalities as well as Rotary members.
