1 October 2018	Experts discuss new guidelines on costing violence against women in the Arab region	Beirut, 01 October 2018 (Communication and Information Unit) – Draft guidelines on costing violence against women in the Arab region, developed by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), were the focus of a recent meeting in Beirut on 20 and 21 September.

11 December 2014	ESCWA Sponsors Specialized TV Program to Empower Women	“The more we succeed in empowering Arab women, the greater is our progress towards sustainable human development” With these words, ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa summed up the vision that guides the Commission in its women-centered programs and activities, which have recently grown to include a TV program, entitled “Women in Economy”. The program is broadcasted on the Arab Woman Channel, and presented by Ghada Ballout Zeytoun.
11 December 2014	UNESCWA Committee Mulls Technology Center	UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy said Monday member countries really need a regional institution that works toward increasing demand for technology and investing it better in socio-economic development. Tallawy was speaking at the opening of the Third Meeting of the UNESCWA Consultative Committee on Scientific and Technological Development and Technological Innovation (ESTIC) at the Holiday Inn Dunes Hotel (Verdun) in Beirut. A major focus of this meeting is the establishment of the ESCWA Technology Center (ETC).

11 December 2014	Participation and Social Justice on the Agenda of ESCWA’s 27th Session	Beirut, 30 April, 2012 (ESCWA Communications and Information Unit)- The Arab Region is in search of a new development paradigm to ensure greater participation of the youth in economic and public life, focusing more on social justice and accountability. Thus, “The Role of Participation and Social Justice in Achieving Sustainable and Balanced Development” will be one of the main topics to be discussed in a ministerial round table during the ESCWA 27th Ministerial Session to be held under the auspices of Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Miqati on 9-10 May 2012.

8 August 2018	Five themes proposed for Fifth Arab Internet Government Forum	In preparation for the Fifth Arab Internet Governance Forum (Arab IGF), the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the League of Arab States (LAS), held two preparatory meeting at the UN House in Beirut from 16 to 19 July, namely the "Open Consultations and Arab Multi-stakeholder Advisory Group Meeting."
28 November 2016	First Meeting of the Technical Advisory Group on Economic Statistics (TAGES) in the Arab Region	ESCWA convened the first Technical Advisory Group on Economic Statistics (TAGES) for the Arab Region on 9 and 10 November 2016, in Cairo. The meeting was attended by 21 participants representing 10 countries and 8 regional and international organizations. Palestine was elected as chair of the group and Morocco as co-chair, while ESCWA acted as secretariat. The ESCWA Statistical Committee recommended the establishment of this technical advisory group during its eleventh session in 2015.
