11 December 2014	King of Jordan Meets ESCWA Executive Secretary	King Abdullah II of Jordan met the UN Under-Secretary General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf and congratulated her on assuming her new position. During the meeting, the Jordanian monarch hailed ESCWA efforts in supporting programs and plans to achieve human, economic and social development in Western Asia, especially in the Arab region, citing areas where cooperation between Jordan and ESCWA could be strengthened and increased.
11 December 2014	HRH Prince Al Hassan Bin Talal Visits ESCWA Technology Centre	His Royal Highness Prince Al Hassan Bin Talal paid a visit to the Amman-based ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) on 18 June 2013 . Prince Al Hassan was briefed by ETC’s Executive Director Fouad Mrad on the objectives of the Centre, which looks to strengthen capacities in establishing national and administrative systems; develop, transfer, adapt, implement, and define the appropriate technologies to the region; and improve the legal and trade frameworks of technology transfer. HRH was accompanied during his visit by his daughter HRH Princess Soumaya who presides over ETC’s board of governors.
29 September 2017	Executive Secretary Discusses with Libyan Official Mutual Cooperation	United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim received on Wednesday 27 September 2017 Libya’s State Minister of Displaced and Migrant Affairs Youssof Abu Baker Jalala at the UN House in Beirut. Both officials discussed cooperation between ESCWA and Libya. Jalala commended the efforts of ESCWA and the organizers of the Regional Consultative Meeting on International Migration in the Arab Region held in Beirut on 26-27 September 2017.
18 August 2017	Executive Secretary visits Director-General of ISF	United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim visited on 17 August 2017 the Director-General of the Internal Security Forces (ISF), Major-General Imad Osman. During his visit, the Executive Secretary was accompanied by ESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary for Program Support Khawla Mattar and ESCWA Chief Security and Safety Section Said Jannoun. The two sides discussed cooperation between ESCWA and the Directorate General of the Internal Security Forces.

11 December 2014	Deputy Executive-Secretary Participates in UN-LAS Cooperation Meeting	ESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary Nadim Khoury will take part in the annual meeting of cooperation between the United Nations and the League of Arab States (LAS) that will be held at the UN Office in Vienna (UNOV), on 10-12 July 2012. The meeting will review UN-LAS cooperation and assess progress in implementing recommendations made in the 2008 meeting and 2012 sectoral meeting. It will also discuss issues of high importance to the region. Khoury will be delivering a statement on behalf of ESCWA.
11 December 2014	Une nouvelle phase de coopération entre la CESAO et la ligue des états arabes	Le 26 Juin 2013, la secrétaire exécutive de la Commission économique et sociale pour l’Asie occidentale (CESAO) Rima Khalaf a signé un mémorandum d’accord avec le secrétaire général de la ligue des états arabes Nabil El Arabi, au siège de la ligue au Caire, pour développer la coopération entre les deux partis qui ne cessât de croitre au cours des dernières années.
11 December 2014	First ESCWA Arab Economics Forum	Current and former concerned ministers as well as a number of economic and social affairs experts will gather at the UN House in Beirut on Friday 23 November 2012 to participate in ESCWA’s First Arab Economics Forum. The Forum, which will be held with the partnership and support of the European Union, will last until Saturday 24 November 2012. A press release on the Forum’s details will be issued by ESCWA Communication and Information Unit (ECIU) on Wednesday.
11 December 2014	Nepalese Messenger of Peace Pushkar Shah Visits UN-ESCWA, Meets with Executive Secretary	UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary, Mr. Bader Omar Al Dafa, received today Mr. Pushkar Shah, the Nepalese teacher who is touring the world on a bicycle to spread the message of peace. Shah presented to Al Dafa the motives behind the journey he initiated in 1998, and which ends next year, once he finishes visiting 150 countries. During his visit to every country, Shah tours different schools, clubs, local communities and United Nations headquarters to speak about peace, respect for other religions and cultures, living in harmony, respect for human rights and democratic values.
