11 December 2014	Moussa Visits UN-ESCWA, Meets Executive Secretary	League of Arab States Secretary-General Amr Moussa held talks on Wednesday 21 November 2007 with UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary, Bader Omar Al-Dafa, at the UN House in Beirut. Following the meeting, Moussa told reporters that he came to Lebanon on a quick visit "amid circumstances known to all, and in view of the efforts that you have been following up on". Moussa was referring to talks with Lebanese officials on the presidential impasse. "I seized the opportunity to visit my friend Mr. Bader Omar Al-Dafa to congratulate him on his post as Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations".
11 December 2014	Star Academy 2006 to Visit UNESCWA Friday	The popular contestants of Star Academy 2006 will be visiting UNESCWA headquarters in Beirut at 2pm, Friday 5 May 2006. Their visit begins with a meeting with UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy followed by a press conference to launch the musical concert they plan to hold at the UNESCO Palace as part of the side events of the UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session.
19 January 2017	Call for Nominations for the 2017 United Nations Public Service Awards (UNPSA)	The United Nations has begun accepting nominations for the 2017 UN Public Service Awards (UNPSA). The deadline for receiving nominations for the UNPSA is 28 February 2017. The annual UNPSA was launched in 2003 in order to promote and support excellent innovations in public service delivery worldwide. In 2016, the UNPSA was reviewed and aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the SDGs.
6 April 2017	Technical Cooperation between ESCWA and Morocco	ESCWA, represented by its Deputy Executive Secretary for Programme Support Khawla Mattar, signed on 16 March 2017 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Moroccan Ministry of General Affairs and Governance, represented by Minister Mohamad Al-Wafa. The MoU aims to provide a framework for inter-institutional dialogue and cooperation on matters of common interest in the fields of sustainable development over the period 2017-2019.

11 December 2014	AlDafa Visits Hariri’s Tomb Tomorrow Tribute to the Man who Brought ESCWA Back to Beirut	On the occasion of the 35th Anniversary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the UN Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa visits the tomb of late Prime Minister Rafic Hariri tomorrow Tuesday, 21 July 2009, at 11:30 AM. The visit is a tribute to the man who brought ESCWA’s headquarters back to Beirut, its official and permanent seat. The UN Information Service kindly requests news media to grant this visit the highlight it deserves.

10 March 2017	Effective National Technology Transfer System in Egypt	Under the patronage of the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ashraf Shihi, ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) and the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in Egypt conducted a workshop entitled: “National Legislative Corrections and Institutional Policies for Effective technology transfer system,” on 11 January 2017 in Cairo.
11 December 2014	Sports for Development, Peace and Human Rights	ESCWA Staff Council organized a ping-pong tournament in August, under the auspices of Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf. Fawzat Salloum of the Security and Safety Section and Naela Haddad of the Social Development Division won the final matches on the categories of men and women, respectively, and received their trophies from the Executive Secretary on 30 August 2012.
23 May 2016	Promoting Green Energy Technology Market in Rural Areas	Promoting Green Energy Technology Market in Rural Areas is the title of a workshop ESCWA is organizing on 24-25 May 2016, at the UN-House in Beirut. The Workshop, which will open at 9:30 tomorrow Tuesday 24 May 2016, aims at building the capacity of the public sector in Arab countries in order to enhance the sustainability of renewable energy penetration in rural areas by fostering sustainable renewable energy markets. The Workshop opens with remarks by Radia Sedaoui, Chief of the ESCWA Energy Section.
