11 December 2014	Star Academy 2006 at UNESCWA	UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy said the Arab youth are facing tremendous political, security, economic and social challenges that are driving them abroad in search for a better future. Tallawy was speaking to the contestants of Star Academy 2006 who visited the UN House ahead of a music concert they will be holding at 8:00pm Tuesday at the UNESCO Palace, Beirut, as part of the cultural events organized on the sidelines of the UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session in Beirut from 8 to 11 May 2006.

21 June 2018	Executive Secretary invites Lebanese President to open 30th Ministerial Session	ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim invited Lebanese President Michel Aoun to inaugurate the 30th Ministerial Session of ESCWA that will be held in Beirut on 27 and 28 June 2018. During his visit to the Presidential Palace in Baabda on 8 June, Mr. Alhakim discussed with President Aoun the work of ESCWA and congratulated him on successful parliamentary elections under his leadership.

11 December 2014	ETC Third Technical Committee Meeting	The intervention of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, the president of Higher Council for Science and Technology and the leadership of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, the president of the Royal Scientific Society and President of the Board of Governors of the Amman-based ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC), marked the Centre's 3rd Technical Committee Meeting, which was held on 2-3 June 2014 at the Society's headquarters.
9 July 2018	Executive Secretary represents UN Secretary-General at Turkish President’s inauguration	Beirut, 9 July (Communication and Information Unit)--The Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), Mr. Mohamed Ali Alhakim, today represented the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. António Guterres, in Ankara, Turkey, during the inauguration ceremony of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Palace. The Turkish presidential election recently took place on 24 June as part of the 2018 general election, alongside parliamentary elections on the same day.
17 February 2016	Call for Proposals on Promoting Renewable Energy	UN-ESCWA is inviting applications for a call for proposals on Promoting Renewable Energy (RE) Investments in the Context of Climate Change Mitigation and Sustainable Development. All institutions, civil societies and the private sector of member countries are invited to submit their proposals by 1 March 2016, to be included in the ESCWA RE investment projects pipeline. At least 10 projects will be retained as part of a capacity building project the Commission is implementing, which aims at enhancing RE investments in member countries in the context of climate change mitigation.
7 August 2017	Executive Secretary visits former President Sleiman	Beirut, 7 August 2017 (Communication and Information Unit) -- United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim visited today President Michel Sleiman in his Yarze residence. Both sides discussed the Commission’s activities in Lebanon and the region.
