10 March 2020	ESCWA succeeds in securing funds to support road safety in Arab States	Beirut, 3 March 2020--ESCWA provided support to member States in applying for grants from the UN Road Safety Fund, among which Jordan and Tunisia, which secured an amount of 585,000 USD for their national projects.

11 December 2014	UN-ESCWA to Hold Road Safety Workshop in Cairo	UN-ESCWA in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP), is holding a workshop on “Capacity-Building of National Focal Points” from 20 to 21 December 2006 at the Kuwait Conference Hall, WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, Cairo.
11 December 2014	Judges Are Briefed on UNESCWA Programmes and Activities	Thirty-five judges paid a visit to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA) today to learn more about the UN organization, its history, mission, and structure. The student group was greeted by the Deputy Executive Secretary of UNESCWA, Mr. Atif A. Kubursi, who briefed them on the UN, specialized agencies, and programmes, as well as specific UNESCWA programmes.
11 December 2014	ESCWA contributes to SHARAKA Conference	Upon invitation from the Gulf Studies Program at the College of Arts and Science, Qatar University, ESCWA Regional Advisor on Environment and Water, Ralf Klingbeil, participated in the conference “EU-GCC Regional Security Cooperation - Lessons Learned and Future Challenges” organised by the EU-funded SHARAKA project for “Enhancing Understanding and Cooperation in EU-GCC Relations” between 28 and 29 October 2013 in Doha, Qatar. The conference addressed a number of security-related issues relevant to EU-GCC relations including energy and food security.
11 December 2014	UN Information Centres at UN-ESCWA	Mohamed Moghadam, National Information Officer, UN Information Center (UNIC)-Iran, Kadir Ahmet Parla, National Information Officer, UNIC-Turkey, Abdussalam Sharafuddine, Officer-in-Charge, UNIC Yemen and Nabila Srougi, Officer-in-Charge, UNIC-Beirut met with UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader Omar AlDafa on Thursday 12 March 2009. UNIC representatives had come to Lebanon this week to participate in the training on international executive media and television workshop, held on 9-12 March at the Safir Hotel.
21 June 2018	ESCWA Executive Secretary meets Lebanese senior officials	ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim conducted in the past two weeks several high-level meetings with senior Lebanese officials and congratulated them on the success of the Parliamentary Elections. Mr. Alhakim met with former President Amin Gemayel, Prime Minister designate Saad Hariri, former Prime Ministers Tammam Salam and Najib Mikati, and Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea.
7 February 2017	ESCWA Staff Bid Farewell to Outgoing Deputy Executive Secretary	Tuesday 31 January 2017 marked the last day in ESCWA for Deputy Executive Secretary for Programme Abdallah Al Dardari around whom ESCWA staff members gathered for farewell moments before joining the World Bank as Senior Advisor for Reconstruction and Rehabilitation in the Middle East and North Africa. Al Dardari had joined ESCWA in 2011 as Senior Economist and Director of the Economic Development and Integration Division (EDID), prior to his appointment in 2013 as Deputy Executive Secretary.
11 December 2014	Cairo Hosts UN-ESCWA Regional Workshop on National Accounts	UN-ESCWA will open its Regional Workshop on National Accounts at 9:30 am on Tuesday 19 December 2006 at the Ramses Hilton Hotel in Cairo. This workshop will continue until Thursday 21 December.
