Good Governance and the Sustainable Development Goals |
From 31 January to 5 February 2016 Istanbul hosted the workshop on “Good Governance and the Sustainable Development Goals.” Organized by ESCWA in collaboration the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Iraq, the workshop aimed at building the capacity of Iraqi public sectors institutions through helping officials to adapt the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda to national context; incorporate participatory governance practices; and adopt an effective communication strategy that can promote public trust and the citizens’ engagement in the SDGs agenda. |

National Profiles of the Information Society |
UN-ESCWA holds a Consultative Workshop on the "National Profiles of the Information Society In Western Asia", during 26-27 November 2008 at the UN House, Riad el-Solh Square, Beirut. The meeting opens at 09:300 AM on Wednesday 26 November 2008, and is attended by a selected group of ICT experts from member countries who will discuss the content and preparation process of the national profiles of the information society, and the subsequent update of the national profiles |

ESCWA, IRU Sign Agreement on Transport Facilitation |
Umberto de Pretto, Secretary General Of the International Road Union (IRU) today said that trade figures within the Arab region are quite shocking, since for example only 9% of trade is between the Arab world. De Pretto was speaking at the UN House in Beirut before signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ESCWA on cooperation and coordination of efforts on transport-related issues in the Arab region. |
