The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN ESCWA ), in collaboration with UN Agencies, custodians of SDG indicators, is organizing a series of webinars  on selected SDG indicators that are less produced in the Arab region to create a common understanding among data producers on how to collect, measure and disseminate SDG indicators to increase data production and enhance national data flow to policy makers, other users and custodian agencies.

The main objectives of the regional training are: 

Establishing National Technology Development and Transfer Systems in select ESCWA member states” which aims to strengthen the capacity of select countries in the ESCWA region to create an enabling policy environment for research and development, and commercialization of research results. 

ESCWA is organizing a five-day intensive training workshop on Programme Cycle Management and Project Formulation at the UN house in Beirut, from 21 to 25 October 2013.

The workshop aims at training 25 senior staff from the Ministry of Social Affairs in Lebanon on how to design and prepare project proposals and learn the best practices of programme cycle management tools and techniques. Ultimately, the workshop aims at enhancing the Ministry's capacity to undertake social development projects and contribute to institutionalize project management within the Ministry.

The virtual event “Desalination using Renewable Energy” organised by ESCWA and DESA in framework of the High level Dialogue on Energy 2021, intend to raise awareness on desalination’s increasingly importance to meet freshwater needs in the MENA region, alongside its economic viability using renewable energy sources.
