21 June 2021	COSP14 Side Event on "Protecting the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Pandemics and Crises"	ESCWA organized a side event on the sidelines of the 14th session of the Conference of States Parties (COSP14) to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) under the title of: “Protecting the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Pandemics and Crises". ESCWA held the side event in collaboration with the League of Arab States (Social Affairs Sector), Kuwait’s Ministry of Social Affairs, and the Arab Organization for Persons with Disabilities (AOPD).

8 April 2019	Regional training workshop on “Reforming and Restructuring the Electricity Sector”	The workshop aims at building the national capacity in the technical, financial and legal fields related to the reforming and restructuring of the electricity sector. Besides, increasing the capability to road a map for sector reform, based on the Egyptian experience in the following areas: Sector restructuring, including analysis of strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities as well as appropriate legislations, The institutional framework of the Electricity Regulatory Agency, in terms of competences, tasks, working mechanisms, relations with concerned Government agencies and the private sector, including licenses for electricity production, energy pricing, accounting and auditing, Economic operation of the sector in terms of improving performance, reducing energy losses, rationalizing consumption, developing technical capabilities, improving customer services, supporting public-private partnerships, enhancing good coordination among relevant sector institutions, Automatic Control Center and the reginal electrical interconnection.

It detracts from the wellbeing and the dignity of women and threatens its security, and has serious consequences on their health. It affects their participation in public affairs, and impedes the course of development.
5 December 2014	EGM on "Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage in ESCWA Member States: Enhancing the Sustainability of the Energy System in a Carbon Constrained Development Context"	ESCWA organized in collaboration with Masdar Institute of Science and Technology an expert group meeting (EGM) on “Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) in ESCWA Member States: Enhancing the Sustainability of the Energy System in a Carbon Constrained Development Context” on 6-7 November 2013 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The meeting addressed the CCUS technology development in the region, CCUS in relation to enhanced oil recovery (EOR), and highlighted the issues and challenges facing an inceptive CCUS industry.
