Management Skills Training for Iraqi Ministry of Justice Officials |
Nineteen senior civil servants from the Iraqi Ministry of Justice have completed one management training course in Beirut. This training that was planned alongside a training implemented late 2005 for the Ministry of Human Rights forms a component of the Danish Government funded UNDP project “Return to Law and Promotion of Human Rights”. The training was organized by UNESCWA in coordination with the OHCHR. The training program focused on management topics and was complimented by sessions on transitional justice and human rights. |

Consultation meeting on Migrant Women Workers |
The ESCWA Regional Adviser on Advancement and Empowerment of women is participating in UNIFEM Arab States consultation meeting that will take place in New Delhi on August 25th aiming at developing a third phase program on Migrant Women Workers, being a focus area in the Beijing Platform for Action. The consultative meeting intends as well to develop a program document regarding the subject that will be implemented within ESCWA. |

Capacity Building workshop on Women Political Participation and Political Empowerment |
ESCWA plays a leading role in assisting member states to translate global commitments to reality, among such commitments the pledge to advance women issues and to empower women socially economically and politically. Against such backdrops the ESCWA Centre for Women is providing technical support to the council of women in Lebanon, with the aim of advancing their capacities and the capacity of local NGOs and Civil society organizations, on issues of gender equality, political participation and economic empowerment of women. |

Tunis National seminar on the Integrated Toolkit for Gender Statistics |
Tunisia’s Institute of Statistics and Ministry of Women, in collaboration with ESCWA, launched the Integrated Gender Statistics Toolkit including the E-Learning to users and producers of statistics, which aims to enhance the capacity of users and producers of statistics in general and gender statistics in particular at no cost.
