ESCWA plays a leading role in assisting member states to translate global commitments to reality, among such commitments the pledge to advance women issues and to empower women socially economically and politically. Against such backdrops the ESCWA Centre for Women is providing technical support to the council of women in Lebanon, with the aim of advancing their capacities and the capacity of local NGOs and Civil society organizations, on issues of gender equality, political participation and economic empowerment of women.
