| United Nations Conference on Environment and Development | The United Nations Conference on Environment and Development was held in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro (also referred to as the Earth Summit). The Conference adopted the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, an action plan termed Agenda 21 and the Non—legally Binding Authoritative Statement of Principles for a Global Consensus on the Management, Conservation and Sustainable Development of All Types of Forests (Forest Principles).
