Definition:
The European Central Bank (ECB) lies at the centre of the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) and the Eurosystem and has legal personality under Community Law. It ensures that tasks conferred upon the Eurosystem and the ESCB are implemented either by its own activities pursuant to the Stature of the European System of Central Banks and of the European Central Bank or through the national central banks.

يقع البنك المركزي الأوروبي (ECB) في قلب النظام الأوروبي للبنوك المركزيّة (ESCB) ومنظومة اليورو وهو يتمتّع بشخصيّة قانونيّة بموجب قانون الجماعة الأوروبيّة. هذا ويضمن تطبيق المهام التي توكل إلى منظومة اليورو والنظام الأوروبي للبنوك المركزيّة إمّا بواسطة نشاطاته بموجب النظام الأساسي لهذا الأخير وللبنك المركزي الأوروبي وإمّا بواسطة البنوك المركزيّة الوطنيّة.
