Beirut, 20 September 2019 (ESCWA)--Today, ESCWA concluded the second regional workshop under the project entitled “Towards the Arab Horizon 2030: Enhancing Integrated National Development Planning in the Arab Region,” whose aim is to support member States in achieving national development priorities while incorporating the principles of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into national plans.

The meeting was an opportunity for national and regional stakeholders to exchange knowledge and expertise on institutional and development planning. Participants also discussed the draft development planning guidebook prepared by ESCWA in collaboration with Nudge Lebanon.

“We brought together the project’s national focal points along with other participants involved in national development planning processes to discuss and review the first draft of the manual and provide feedback and ideas on its structure and content, which will feed into the final draft,” said Nathalie Khaled, Economic Affairs Officer in the Economic Development and Integration Division at ESCWA.

The workshop was also an avenue to discuss capacity-building programmes and tools developed by ESCWA on regulatory reform, strategic planning, and monitoring and evaluation of development planning processes.
