United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCWA Mohamed Ali Al-Hakim received on Wednesday 6 September 2017 Egypt’s Ambassador to Lebanon Nazih al-Najjari at the UN House in Beirut.

The two officials discussed enhancing cooperation between ESCWA and Egypt. Following the meeting, al-Najjari commended the ESCWA efforts in promoting economic and social development in the Arab region, pointing out the readiness of his country to provide support to ESCWA for the reports and studies the it produces. Al-Najjari also expressed willingness to boost communication between the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut and ESCWA in various areas of work.

The visit of the Egyptian Ambassador came as a follow-up to the official visit of the Executive Secretary to Egypt on 22-24 August 2017 where a framework of cooperation was signed between Egypt and the regional commission for the period 2017-2019.
