Launched by UN-HABITAT in 1999, the Global Campaign on Urban Governance is a strategic entry point for urban poverty reduction and implementing the Habitat Agenda of ‘‘sustainable human settlements development in an urbanizing world.’’ The campaign is designed to promote transparent and accountable governance, which responds to and benefits all sectors of society, particularly the urban poor, and which strives to eradicate all forms of exclusion.
