The Foundation for Human and Humanitarian Rights (Lebanon) was founded in 1989 by a group of concerned Lebanese. The motive behind establishing FHHRL was the then protracted Lebanese Civil War, which gave the founders a firm conviction that sustainable peace in Lebanon would not take just a cessation of hostilities, but also an engrained respect for human rights that should define post-war Lebanon.
