The increased demand to address discrepancies between national and international MDG data, together with the availability of new MDG tools to perform the exchanges using SDMX; as well as the request of capacity building in this field by countries, an Arab workshop on the Use of SDMX and DevInfo for MDG Data Reporting by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organized in close collaboration with the United Nations Statistics Division, and the African Development Bank, in Amman, from 10 to 14 July, 2011 and hosted in the Department of Statistics Jordan.
The Workshop will train representatives from national statistical offices from the Arab countries on recommendations for reporting MDG data using SDMX and particularly the MDG data structure definition. A hands-on training on SDMX as well as additional sessions will be included to discuss data discrepancies, coordination issues, and hands-on training to transform their existing MDG databases, stored for the most part on DevInfo platforms, into SDMX format for data reporting.
