Under the patronage of  the Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) conducted  a workshop in Cairo entitled: “National Legislative Corrections and Institutional Policies for Effective technology transfer system.”
ETC presented an overview of the project progress in 5 Arab countries (Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman and Tunis) and main findings of the project.
ETC consultants (Dr. Alaa Idriss - President of the Egyptian Board of Governors for Advancement of Science, and Dr. Ihab Abdelrahman - Provost of American University of Cairo) presented their studies (Legislation and Road Map for Implementation; and Technology Transfer and IP policies in the Universities and Research Centers), where ETC Director facilitated with ASRT DG Dr Mahmoud Sakr (Egypt official representative of ETC Board of Governors) the session on Roadmap of implementation for benefitting from the studies that were presented by ESCWA consultants and meet the objectives of the project in Egypt.
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research acknowledged the critical proposed outcomes of the studies by ESCWA Consultants and proposed technology transfer and intellectual property policy template for Universities and Research Centers. The Minister declared his intension to enforce the subject policy on all Universities and Research Centers in Egypt through the Higher Council that he chairs
