1. Background and Justification:
The seventh session of ESCWA Statistical Committee (Beirut, 7-9 November 2006), requested ESCWA to "Establish a regional working group composed of the Statistical Office Directors in the ESCWA countries to meet in years during which the Statistical Committee does not convene in order to discuss the latest statistical developments and to consult the secretariat on its work program and related activities".
2. Objective:
To meet the National Statistical Offices request to discuss the latest regional and global statistical developments and activities and to consult the secretariat on its work program and related activities.
3. Working Language:
Arabic and English, with simultaneous interpretation.
4. Venue and accommodation:
The meeting will be held in Ramses Hilton Hotel in Cairo where arrangements have also been made for accommodation of all participants. The rates are USD105.00 for single room and USD120.00 for double room, including buffet breakfast and all applicable services and government taxes.
