ESCWA organized a national workshop on drafting of bilateral investment agreements during the period 11-15 March 2013 in Beirut, Lebanon. The purpose of this workshop was to familiarize participants from various government agencies and institutions that play a role in the negotiation of bilateral investment agreements, on how to draft various items contained in the bilateral investment agreements, drafting techniques of treaties, and understand the basic concepts in the formulation of international conventions relating to investment. The workshop also aimed to enhance the participants information through practical exercises and exchange of roles on the drafting and negotiation of bilateral investment agreements. At the end of the workshop, the Lebanese agreements were drafted and amended.
