This workshop provided technical support and capacity-building for the representatives of the ministries of trade and finance in the Arab States members of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area in the negotiations associated with the Arab Customs Union, and to develop the capacities of the representatives of their Governments in the ongoing negotiations.
ESCWA organized the first regional workshop of the Arab African countries within the framework of the project funded by the United Nations Development Fund on the implementation of the Arab Customs Union, based on the recommendations of the commission of the Arab customs union at the ninth meeting of the session, which was held in Cairo during the period 2-4 February 2016.
