Expert Peer Review of the RICCAR Integrated Assessment Findings
Within the framework of the Regional Initiative for the Assessment of the Impact of Climate Change on Water Resources and Socio-Economic Vulnerability in the Arab Region (RICCAR), the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA), in collaboration with the RICCAR implementing partner organizations and ACCWaM partners, is organizing an Expert Peer Review of the RICCAR Integrated Assessment Findings.
This meeting will examine the draft outputs of the integrated assessment and the associated case studies conducted. This peer review follows six regional expert group meetings, eight working group and task force meetings, as well as a series of expert consultations to inform and discuss the preliminary findings of the regional integrated assessment.
The purpose of the meeting is to review and discuss the: (a) Bias-corrected regional climate modelling results for the MENA/Arab Domain; (b) Regional and basin-level hydrological modelling results; and the (c) Vulnerability assessment findings for the Arab region. The results of some of the impact assessment case studies will also be discussed during the meeting.
The discussions will support the validation of assumptions and results of the integrated assessment in view of ensuring the appropriate framing and finalization of these outputs prior to their inclusion in the Arab Climate Change Assessment Report and Regional Knowledge Hub, both of which are to be launched in 2017.
