Coordination meeting on Applying Nationally Adopted Good Agriculture Practices in Jordan and Lebanon
Among the many objectives of implementing the project on “Promoting Food and Water Security through Cooperation and Capacity Development in the Arab Region”, ESCWA aims to enhance capacity for efficient, safe and quality food production through the adoption and use of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) for a responsible, effective and efficient food value chain.
In this respect ESCWA prepared Training manual on Good Agriculture Practices (GAP) for Fruits and Vegetables, organized related Training workshops for Jordan and Lebanon and prepared a booklet that provides Guidelines on applying Gap in the Arab region. Furthermore, it is providing technical support and backstopping the development of national GAP schemes in Jordan and Lebanon.
In that respect, ESCWA is organizing the Coordination meeting on Applying Nationally Adopted Good Agriculture Practices in Jordan and Lebanon based on the recommendation of the Jordanian technical committee and to enhance cooperation between both countries on those issues.
The meeting will provide a platform for both parties to discussin depth the following topics:
- Review of progress made in the preparation of the national good agricultural practices standards,
- Review the processes needed for the application of locally adopted GAP standards,
- Reach an agreement on the training form and methods and its basic components,
- Reach an agreement on deadlines and define the roles and responsibilities of each party.
