The EGM will be dedicated to address existing conflict dynamics in the Arab region, its spillover effects and the long-term ramifications of conflict on development outcomes, including the 2030 Development Agenda. While attempting to analyze different scenarios, participants will focus on some of the most pertinent trends that are striking roots in the Arab region and that will prove to be formidable obstacles to the attainment of the Arab region’s stability and full development potential. The meeting will unpack these issues and investigate ways to mitigate their impact. Finally, a large segment of the deliberations will be dedicated to discussing prevention possibilities and opportunities to better deal with the ramifications of conflict.
