ESCWA organizes this meeting at the request of the Higher Council of Customs and in coordination with the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, within the framework of the development account project on facilitating the implementation of the Arab Customs Union. It affirms the effective role of ESCWA in the efforts made and its commitment to provide the necessary support to all Member States, as well as discussions to facilitate the implementation of the Arab Customs Union.

The 38th meeting of the Arab committee of the Common External Tariff brings together about 40-45 experts from different Arab countries to negotiate and agree on a common Arab external tariff.
