United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing an expert group meeting to discuss the analysis and key messages of the background research that informs the forthcoming ESCWA publication Arab Development Outlook (2017), which has a theme fiscal policy for transformative growth.
 
The report aims to tackle several issues about fiscal policy in the region in the context of inclusive and sustainable growth, which includes the critical role of fiscal policy in promoting structural transformation and decent employment, public social spending and human development, and fiscal response to public debt sustainability, among others.
 
The deliberations in the meeting aim to distill the key messages and recommendations that can influence forward looking fiscal policy frameworks toward promoting inclusive and sustainable growth in the region.
