The Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority is a public Authority, having a legal status, established in accordance to law 10 of the year 2009. The Egyptian Financial Supervisory Authority is replace the Egyptian Insurance Supervisory Authority, the Capital Market Authority, and the Mortgage Finance Authority in application of the provisions of the supervision and regulation of Insurance law no. 10 of 1981, the Capital Market law no. 95 of 1992, the Depository and Central registry law no. 93 of 2000, the Mortgage Finance law no. 148 of 2001, as well as other related laws and decrees that are part of the mandates of the above authorities.

أنشئت الهيئة العامة للرقابة المالية بموجب القانون رقم10 لسنة 2009. حل الهيئة العامة للرقابة المالية محل كل من الهيئة المصرية للرقابة على التأمين، والهيئة العامة لسوق المال، والهيئة العامة لشئون التمويل العقاري، في تطبيق أحكام قانون الإشراف والرقابة على التأمين الصادر بالقانون رقم 10 لسنة 1981، وقانون سوق رأس المال الصادر بالقانون رقم 95 لسنة 1992 ، وقانون الإيداع والقيد المركزي للأوراق المالية الصادر بالقانون رقم 93 لسنة 2000 وقانون التمويل العقاري الصادر بالقانون رقم 148 لسنة 2001، كما تحل محل تلك الهيئات فيما تختص به في أية قوانين وقرارات أخرى.وتعتبر الهيئة الجهة الإدارية المختصة في تطبيق أحكام قانون التأجير التمويلي الصادر بالقانون رقم 95 لسنة 1995.
