ESCWA Participates in Rio +20 |
On 20-22 June 2012, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) took place in Rio de Janeiro, capturing global attention and participation. Some 12,000 government and civil society representatives attended the conference, including heads of State and ministers from more than 190 countries. At the conclusion of Rio+20, the outcome document “The Future We Want” was approved and more than 700 pledges of financial support (totaling US$513 billion) were made. |

Kuwait Hosts Ninth Session of ESCWA Committee on Energy and the Regional Workshop on Parameters Influencing Oil and Gas Pricing |
Kuwait will be hosting the ninth session of the ESCWA Committee on Energy on 12-13 June at Regency Hotel, Kuwait. The Session will kick off on Wednesday 12 June at 10:00AM with the participation of representatives from member countries specialized in the field of Energy. Election of officers will follow in accordance with the Arabic alphabetical order employed by the United Nations, whereby Libya will assume the chairmanship of the session, Lebanon and Egypt the vice-chairmanship and Morocco the rapporteur. |

Qatar Hosts the 29th ESCWA Ministerial Council |
On 15 December 2016, the ministers of ESCWA Member States adopted “the Doha Declaration on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Agenda 2030”. This came at the conclusion of the three-day deliberations of the ESCWA 29th Session, hosted by the State of Qatar, at Sheraton Grand Hotel. The Session convened from 13 to 15 December. |
