Regional Coordination Mechanism |
The Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) was established pursuant to ECOSOC Resolution 1998/46 to hold "regular interagency meetings in each of the five regions (Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America & Caribbean and Western Asia) with a view to improving coordination among the work programmes of the organizations of the United Nations system in each region". The first RCM in the Arab Region was convened by ESCWA in 1999. Since then, meetings have been held annually at the rate of one or two meetings per year. |

Amman Hosts Regional Commission’s High Level Meetings |
From 22 to 27 March 2015, the Jordanian capital, Amman, hosted governmental meetings organized by ESCWA. These events, which were attended by high-level figures and experts in the areas of energy, water and food security, included the 10th session of the ESCWA Committee on Energy, an expert group meeting on the Water-Energy-Food Security Nexus in the Arab Region, and the 11th session of the ESCWA Committee on Water Resources. Within the framework of the project on advancing digital cooperation and development Arab States Action Programme, ESCWA is organizing the Second Regional Expert Meeting on “National Digital Development Reviews 2.0 – Enhanced Methodology and Updated Guiding Template”, via internet. The meeting will gather the Arab countries that participated in the first round of the National Digital Development Reviews (NDDRs) for 2019 and countries wishing to participate in the 2021 round. |
