Beirut, 9 October 2019 (ESCWA)--ESCWA today concluded the twelfth session of its Committee on Social Development, which discussed how best to support member States in achieving a more inclusive and equitable development in the Arab region.
 

ESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary Nadim Khouri opened today the consultative intergovernmental meeting on the “Water and Energy Nexus in the ESCWA Region” at the UN House in Beirut.

In commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (2016), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Institute for Women's Studies in the Arab World  at the Lebanese American University (LAU), ABAAD Resource Centre for Gender Equality, and UN-Women call on youth in the Arab region to participate in a video competition to raise awareness on violence against women.

In the framework of the “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in rural areas of the Arab region (REGEND)”, the finalization of the selection of the local community and the Local Facilitating Team (LFT) in Lebanon necessitates a Focus Group Meeting.
 
The objective of the meeting is to assess and finalize the selection of the local community where the project activities will be undertaken as well initiating the establishment of the Local Facilitation Team (LFT) in Lebanon and the selection of its members.
