The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the UN Information Centre in Beirut (UNIC) today marked the International Women’s Day (IWD), holding two roundtables that recommended emphasizing the needs of rural and poor women and introducing laws to protect women from stereotypical images in the media.

The Workshop discussed the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture and provided a platform for sharing on regional perspectives and issues related to agriculture and climate change negotiations and highlighted the need for a joint Arab position for a resilient agriculture sector. 
KJWA represents the unique opportunity to put forward the agriculture sector in a convention that does not look into specific sectoral issues and could be a game changer for the many Arab farmers. LAS, FAO and ESCWA were ready to assist countries in preparing their submissions and joining the KJWA process.
