The League of Arab States (LAS), ESCWA, the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy (MOERE) in Egypt, and the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) are jointly organizing, in cooperation with the European Union’s project “Mediterranean Energy Efficiency in the Construction Sector –MED-ENEC”, the Second Arab Forum for Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) entitled “Enhancing the Role of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Promoting RE & EE” on 18-19 June 2014 in El Gouna Movenpick Hotel, Egypt. |

Executive Secretary Visits Oman, Participates in G77 Water Forum |
UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader Omar AlDafa considered today that the Regional Commission region suffers from a variety of pressures that endanger the sustainability of its water resources. UN-ESCWA has therefore set the management of water resources at the top of its work priority and works to implement several projects to strengthen the good and sustainable management of these resources. AlDafa made these remarks in the first session of the Ministerial Forum on Water that the G77 and China are holding in Oman on 23-25 February 2009.

As part of ongoing efforts by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) to support member States in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim recently highlighted how the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) can guide innovative policies aimed at eradicating poverty in all its dimensions in the Arab region. |
