1 June 2021	Training workshop for rural women on "Financial Management, Accounting, and the Economic Benefits of Access to Sustainable and Secure Energy"	Within the framework of the “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND)” Project, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Municipality of Chaqdouf, is organizing a capacity-building workshop on “Financial Management, Accounting, and the Economic Benefits of Access to Sustainable and Secure Energy”. This workshop will build the capacities of the rural women in Chaqdouf in the fields of financial management, accounting, cost accounting, and pricing of rural products. The workshop will also demonstrate the economic benefits of sustainable and secure energy, and its positive impact on rural development in Lebanon.

In parallel, another important UN process is taking place in the context of financing development.

18 May 2017	Towards Greater Government Transparency and Accountability in the Arab Region	“Open Government: emerging technologies for greater government transparency and accountability in the Arab Region,” was the title of the meeting that gathered 50 experts from 14 Arab countries in addition to Turkey and Denmark. The event was organized by ESCWA on 26 and 27 April 2017, under the patronage and in the presence of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform in Lebanon Inaya Ezzeddine.

11 December 2014	Tunisia Hosts Regional Commission's Ministerial Council to Boost Social Justice in the Region	Under the banner of “Social Justice in the Policies of Arab States”, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) will hold its 28th Session from 15 to 18 September 2014 in the Regency Hotel, Tunis.
