Arab High Level Forum on Sustainable Development |
On 2-4 April 2014, the Jordanian capital Amman hosted the “Arab High Level Forum on Sustainable Development” organized by ESCWA in cooperation with Ministries of Planning and International Cooperation and of Environment in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the League of Arab States (LAS) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). The Forum, which was inaugurated by HRH Prince Hassan Bin Talal, gathered a crowd of government officials, officials from the United Nations and its specialized agencies, LAS specialized agencies, funding institutions and the civil society. |

Civil Aviation and Air Transport in the Arab World |
In its 17 January 1997 resolution proclaiming 7 December as the International Civil Aviation Day, the United Nations General Assembly said "future development of international civil aviation can greatly help to create and preserve friendship and understanding among the nations and peoples of the world". Such statement cannot be truer today, with the growing need to meet the "other", the ever-increasing flows of travelers, and the multiplication of low cost carriers (LCCs), recently introduced into the Arab region. |

Ninth Session of ESCWA Committee on Energy Convenes in Kuwait |
The progress achieved in the field of Energy in the ESCWA member countries; the projects achieved and those planned to be implemented in member countries; and the adoption and implementation of renewable energy technologies in member countries were the main subjects of discussion by the ninth session of the ESCWA Committee on Energy, which was held at the Regency Hotel of Kuwait City on 12-13 June 2013 with the participation of representatives from member countries specialized in the field of Energy. |

Macroeconomic and Fiscal Impacts of the Libyan Crisis on Tunisian Economy |
In April 2017 ESCWA issued a study entitled “The Impact of the Libyan Crisis on the Tunisian Economy: an Estimation of the Macroeconomic and Fiscal Impacts of the Libyan Crisis on the Tunisian Economy” laying out the consequences that arise as a result of states having interdependent relationships. |
