Workshop on Conference Diplomacy |
The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) are jointly organizing a workshop on Conference Diplomacy on 25 January 2010 at the UN House in Beirut. The workshop is open to members of Permanent Missions accredited to Lebanon as well as representatives of ESCWA member states who will be participating in the 4th Meeting of the Technical Committee (26-27 January 2010). The objective of this workshop is to familiarize participants with the underlying concepts and notions of Conference Diplomacy. |

HRH Prince Al Hassan Bin Talal Visits ESCWA Technology Centre |
His Royal Highness Prince Al Hassan Bin Talal paid a visit to the Amman-based ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) on 18 June 2013 . Prince Al Hassan was briefed by ETC’s Executive Director Fouad Mrad on the objectives of the Centre, which looks to strengthen capacities in establishing national and administrative systems; develop, transfer, adapt, implement, and define the appropriate technologies to the region; and improve the legal and trade frameworks of technology transfer. HRH was accompanied during his visit by his daughter HRH Princess Soumaya who presides over ETC’s board of governors. |

UN-ESCWA, in partnership with the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources of Germany (BGR) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Water Resources in Iraq, is organizing an Advanced-Level Seminar on “Negotiations and Dispute Resolution Over International Shared Water Resources in Iraq.” The meeting will take place on 29-31 July 2008 at the UN-House in Beirut, Lebanon. The objectives of this meeting are to encourage a comprehensive vision and strategy for international negotiations on shared water resources. |
