6 November 2017	Islamic Finance in National Accounts	33 experts from 17 Arab, African and Asian countries discussed various issues related to Islamic Finance and exchanged their expertise in this field in a meeting that was held by ESCWA in coordination with the United Nations Statistics Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNSD) at the UN House in Beirut from 24 to 26 October 2017. 8 experts representing international organizations also took part in the meeting.

11 December 2014	UN Deputy Secretary-General Visits Lebanon	UN Deputy Secretary-General Jan Eliasson visits Beirut to participate in the 17th meeting of the UN Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) hosted by ESCWA on 10 December 2012 at the UN House-Beirut. During his visit, Eliasson is scheduled to meet with the Lebanese Head of State, House Speaker and Prime Minister, alongside a number of Lebanese personalities. The Deputy Secretary-General will also pay a visit to the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and to the Caritas Centre in Ghazieh accredited by the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to register Syrian refugees.
11 December 2014	Nepalese Messenger of Peace Pushkar Shah Visits UN-ESCWA, Meets with Executive Secretary	UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary, Mr. Bader Omar Al Dafa, received today Mr. Pushkar Shah, the Nepalese teacher who is touring the world on a bicycle to spread the message of peace. Shah presented to Al Dafa the motives behind the journey he initiated in 1998, and which ends next year, once he finishes visiting 150 countries. During his visit to every country, Shah tours different schools, clubs, local communities and United Nations headquarters to speak about peace, respect for other religions and cultures, living in harmony, respect for human rights and democratic values.
22 May 2015	Executive Committee	The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), at its twenty-eighth session held in Tunis from 15 to 18 September 2014, adopted resolution 320 (XXVIII) on redesignating the Technical Committee as the “Executive Committee” and amending its terms of reference, so that it may play a greater role in steering and coordinating all ESCWA activities, pursuant to a recommendation made by the Technical Committee at its eighth meeting, held in Amman from 10 to 12 December 2013.
