The aforementioned report reviews the achievements made by Arab countries in fulfilling their commitments under the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and analyses the challenges facing the region in that regard through highlighting the regional political, security, economic, social and cultural dimensions and analyzing how these impact gender equality and women’s advancement.

22 November 2019	Socioeconomic Dialogue technical meeting: Integration and Consolidation of the Thematic Priority Areas as identified in the Baseline studies	Following the last EGM held on 14-15 September 2019 in Tunis; ESCWA’s Libya SED integrated, as agreed, the set of broad arrays of priorities which were identified by the authors of the papers and discussants into thematic areas which encapsulated the harmonization of these priorities in the agenda below. The opening session of the meeting will present the progress made so far, the challenges encountered, and upcoming planned activities. It will help participants familiarize (and engage) themselves further with the project’s mission and stages. The objective of the following sessions of the meeting in the agenda which will be led by ESCWA moderators and Libyan discussants will be aimed at having a detailed discussion and exchange feedback and comments on the draft developed integrated thematic areas and their components and solidify their content and to discuss and exchange their views and provide their feedback on the overall thematic areas which will then be the basis for drafting discussion papers in preparation for the dialogue sessions beginning of year 2020. These sessions will also feature miscellaneous additional recommendations that need further consideration that could benefit the Libya project and feed into the socioeconomic and governance aspects of the future work to be done.
22 July 2019	At High-Level Political Forum, ESCWA urges persistent commitment to 2030 Agenda	Beirut-New York, 22 July 2019 (ESCWA)--A delegation from the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) concluded a 2-week long round of meetings at the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) held on 9-18 July in New York, where it conveyed the voice of the Arab region, urging persistent commitment to 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
23 April 2018	Experts discuss ‘corridors for vital connectivity’ in the Arab region	Beirut, 23 March 2017 (Communication and Information Unit) – A regional meeting on “Corridors for Vital Connectivity in the Arab Region,” organized today by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), identified priority actions and joint initiatives that promote regional connectivity and that can be pursued in the future.
5 December 2014	Inter-regional Seminar on "Participatory Development and Conflict Resolution: Path of Democratic Transition and Social Justice"	Since the beginning of 2011, countries of the region have been experiencing events that are necessitating the revision of their policy options, and are increasing their interests in the process of democratic transition as a way to promote participatory development and establish peace and security. The recent uprisings witnessed in countries of the region, are pressing for reform of their systems of governance and the adoption of democratic standards, which only confirms that such a choice is possible.
5 December 2014	Regional Follow-up to the Outcome of the World Summit on the Information Society	Registration is closed In keeping with the recommendations of the WSIS "Tunis Agenda for the Information Society" and in order to propel the WSIS momentum forward, ESCWA is holding, a conference entitled " Regional Follow-up to the Outcome of the World Summit on the Information Society ". The conference will take place at the Umayyad Congress Palace in Damascus, between 16 and 18 June 2009.

11 December 2014	Executive Secretary Visits Oman, Participates in G77 Water Forum	UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader Omar AlDafa considered today that the Regional Commission region sufferers from a variety of pressures that endanger the sustainability of its water resources. UN-ESCWA has therefore set the management of water resources at the top of its work priority and works to implement several projects to strengthen the good and sustainable management of these resources. AlDafa made these remarks in the first session of the Ministerial Forum on Water that the G77 and China are holding in Oman on 23-25 February.
