Digital content has come to play a major role given the vital contribution by information and knowledge in meeting economic and social development goals, and the role of information and communication technologies in producing, categorizing, sharing and disseminating such information. This study, which paves the way for drafting an Arab strategy on content building, represents a follow-up to efforts made by ESCWA in the area of digital content.

The National Strategy for Older Persons in Lebanon (2020-2030) is the primary response to the needs and priorities of older persons in Lebanon, and a tool to ensure collaboration among all stakeholders to protect the rights of older persons.
 
The strategy development was led by the Ministry of Social Affairs, with support from the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Center for Studies on Aging in Lebanon (CSA).

This paper seeks to emphasize that community development is a participatory process whereby consensus-building, open dialogue and the promotion of an active civil society are all key ingredients to spur the transformation that can result in long-term sustainable development. Given the importance of forming consensus, there is a strong need to create and build the capacity of those within a community to forge their own development strategies and to have an active debate regarding the central tenets.

This bulletin explains the content of a report entitled “Realizing the Future We Want for All” that sets out a vision for the future based on the core values of human rights, equality and sustainability. It recommends that the goals and targets of the MDG framework be retained beyond 2015. In addition, this bulletin includes another report entitled “A Regional Perspective on the Post-2015 United Nations Development Agenda” which identifies key priority areas for a global development agenda.
