The ESCWA region has an arid to semi-arid climate and the livelihood of its population is significantly affected by the scarcity of water. This series aims to enhance the application of integrated water resources management (IWRM) concepts in Western Asia and this second issue provides an overview of the state of water resources in the ESCWA region, based on the most recent data obtained from member countries, analysed and assessed in the context of IWRM.

The workshop aims at training high officials from the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs on a number of concepts related to the sustainable development agenda focusing on goals and scopes related to women and gender issues. The workshop ims at selecting appropriate approaches and methodologies towards improving the implementation of the SDG's agenda, through a roadmap that highlights the role of the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs. It also aims to build the capacity of staff of the Commission to improve responsiveness.
