Inter-Regional Report on Labour Migration and Social Protection |
This report provides an overview of the human rights issues associated with international migration from the ESCAP to the ESCWA region. It also looks at the abuse of migrant rights in the country origin and the sponsorship system that regulates their lives from ESCAP countries in the GCC countries. Moreover, this report discusses the relevant international conventions that protect migrant domestic workers, the legal framework within which they live and work as well as the ratification of the International Labour Organization Convention on Domestic Workers. |

Executive Committee, Seventh Meeting |
The Executive Committee was established pursuant to ESCWA resolution 320 (XXVIII), which amended the terms of reference of the Technical Committee, redesignating it and increasing its executive role within ESCWA. The Executive Committee plays an important role in steering and coordinating the Commission’s activities, tracking the implementation of recommendations and following up on important regional and global issues. It held its sixth meeting in Marrakech, Morocco, on 15 and 16 June 2019. |

UNSD/ESCWA Technical Assistance to Lebanon on Improving Energy Statistics for Sustainable Development |
The objective of this assessment mission is to assist the General Directorate of Oil at the Ministry of Energy and Water (MEW) and the Central Administration of Statistics (CAS) in producing a step-by-step plan towards meeting Lebanon’s energy statistics needs. For this purpose, other government stakeholders’ views need to be considered so that the collective national policy needs in this area are incorporated in the plan. Cooperation and coordination among agencies will be essential to improve Lebanon’s energy statistics in a cost-efficient way. |

Jordan national training workshop to improve use of gender statistics |
The national training workshop aims to improve technical capabilities in using gender statistics to monitor SDG Tier I and II gender indicators and in disseminating, communicating and using statistics and indicators.
