The event is being held within the framework of the strategic cooperation between the two organizations and in the context of the related track of Advancing Digital Cooperation and Development Arab States Action Programme, launched by ESCWA in 2020. |

The aim of this consultative meeting is to draft a collaborative road map for Arab regional preparations leading to the United Nations Conference for the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Water Action Decade in March 2023. Discussion will include contributions to a midterm regional review report, preparations for the regional preparatory meeting, and the identification of activities that can explicitly support the Water Action Decade in the region. |

UN Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro said on Saturday that the Arab region is emerging as a true leader in development – from burgeoning intra-regional investment in infrastructure to energy security. The Arab countries and people are doing more and more to contribute to one another’s’ development. “It is not an exaggeration to say that the Arab Region is one of vast historical and cultural richness. Today this wealth is, in many cases, complemented by economic prosperity,” Migiro said. |
